THE MAGICAL ISLAND OF CAPRI & THE QUISISANA HOTEL + 7 SUMMER SANDALS

THE MAGICAL ISLAND OF CAPRI & THE QUISISANA HOTEL + 7 SUMMER SANDALS

Traveling from the U.S. to the island of Capri off the coast of Italy takes FOREVER. Here are the steps to get there:

Fly to Rome.

Connect on a flight to Naples.

Take a taxi to the ferry terminal.

Take a ferry or private boat transfer over to the island.

Think you’re there yet? You’re not.

Next, you get off the ferry or small boat with your luggage that you have been carrying for almost 24 hours now and either take a taxi or buy a ticket to take the “funicular” to the top of the island.

Ok, you FINALLY arrived. And now that you have, you’re about to enjoy the most magical and glamorous vacation of your life and the long journey will be a distant memory.

The island of Capri is this perfect mix of sea, salt, lemons, tomatoes, basil, sun, and wine. You will sunbathe and swim all day, have dinner at 10 PM, and stay out all night having the time of your life. There is no place like it.

The best place to stay is the Grand Hotel Quisisana. Located in the heart of the island, you can walk everywhere and have access to the best people watching in town on their patio.

A few tips for your trip:

  • Take the private boat transfer from Naples to Capri rather than the crowded, hot and slow ferry
  • Ask your concierge to book a boat charter for you and your friends around the island.  Swim in the Mediterranean, sun on the deck of the boat, stop for a delicious and boozy lunch of pasta, fresh fish, and white wine
  • If you cannot stay at the Quisi, stay here: Luna Hotel. And go have a drink even if you aren’t staying there – the view from the patio is iconic.
  • All the restaurants are amazing; you can’t go wrong.  Check with the concierge for recommendations but you can’t miss Da Paolino, where you dine under lemon trees.
  • Go here for the day – it is a hike but worth every glorious step:  La Fontelina Beach Club
  • Everything starts late – very late – in Capri.  Spend all day on the beach, eat dinner around 10 PM, and then go here, Anema e Core, after dinner.  It will be the most fun you’ve ever had.
  • Travel light and under no circumstances should you pack any shoes other than sandals.  No heels in Capri! A few suggestions for you below, and leave room in your suitcase for the ones that you will buy.

If you cannot travel to Capri but want to experience it, read Sex and Vanity, by Kevin Kwan (author of Crazy Rich Asians) and buy a copy of Nina Parker Cookbook:  Capri and Capri Dolce Vita by Assouline.

Ciao Bella!
